The Three List of Things You NEED to Delegate



I've seen it time and again - a client would sign up with a virtual assistant but then don't know what to do with them. They don't know (or did not prepare) the tasks they should give them.


What are the things that you need to delegate? Here are three list of things that you need to figure out:

  1. Tasks that you DON'T LIKE DOING

  2. Tasks that you DON'T KNOW HOW to do

  3. Tasks that you SHOULDN'T BE DOING (Tasks that consume a lot of your time and energy)

Delegating the tasks under these three categories would push you to exclusively be in your ZONE of Genius. Do the things where you shine and where you are an expert of. This means more time doing money making activities in your business including working with clients, doing live classes, engaging with your tribe or creating content for your next program.


So, what next? You need to get a pen and paper or open up your virtual notes and list down the tasks that fall under these three categories.


1. TASKS THAT YOU DON'T LIKE DOING


If you have tasks that bore the hell out of you, delegate them. If there's a pending task in your to-do list that you haven't touched for months and you are procrastinating - that means you don't like doing it. Put these tasks under this category. Example of this is shifting through hundreds of emails in your Inbox. You can have a VA categorize these emails for you and just tag the ones that needs your immediate attention. If your social media accounts don't have anything on it for the past weeks, it means you don't like managing it - delegate!


2. TASKS THAT YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO DO


You are an entrepreneur. You are smart. We know that. I know that you can set up a website yourself if you only LEARN how to do it. But do you really have the time to sit down for days learning how to connect a domain to a Wordpress site if someone else can do it in ten minutes? If you DIY something and it did not come out as professional, you might be selling your brand short. It takes a little honesty to say to yourself, this isn't working and I need help.


3. TASKS THAT YOU SHOULDN'T BE DOING


These are the tasks that takes up your time and energy. Remember, your time is your currency. Your energy is gold. Be wise in spending these gems. These are the type of tasks that YOU might like doing, tasks that you KNOW how to do but definitely SHOULDN'T be doing. This is the trickiest list of all. I had a client that is very creative and edits his own video. His videos are amazing. He loves doing them but it takes him half a day to complete. He is an energy healer and a coach. It's very hard to let go of these kind of tasks that you are great at doing but moves you away from your real purpose. As business owners, you should be focused more on the strategic growth of your business all the time.
